Senior Software Engineer (React Native, Node.js) – Remote, US

alooola is a wealth management app for medical professionals. Investments, retirement planning, spending, insurance, all in one place, backed by real advisory expertise.
We're the tech arm of Glen Eagle, a 30-year-old advisory firm with over $1B in assets under management. Privately held, profitable, no outside investors. We're taking what we know about serving doctors and building a digital-first experience around it. Currently at $30M AUM and growing.
You'll be our second engineer, working directly with the VP of Engineering, who codes daily.
The Role
We have an MVP in market and are focused on building out the features that drive real growth.
In your first 90 days, you'll likely work on:
- Joint accounts integration
- Overhauling spending UX
- Launching a referral system
- Enabling mutual fund capabilities
Day-to-day, you'll:
- Own features end-to-end: requirements, UX decisions, implementation, testing, shipping
- Work across the stack: React Native/TypeScript on mobile, Node.js/Express/Postgres on the backend
- Use AI tools (Claude, GPT, etc.) as part of your normal workflow
- Stay in touch throughout the day via Slack
- Debug, fix, monitor, support
Who This Is For
You have 5+ years of experience building production software. You learned the fundamentals before AI tools existed, which means you actually understand what you're prompting for.
Technically, you're strong in:
- React Native (navigation, state management, performance, debugging)
- Node.js (data modeling, migrations, API design)
- Using AI tools daily as a force multiplier, not a crutch
As a person, you:
- Thrive with autonomy and minimal direction
- Bias toward action over lengthy planning
- Care about UX and think through problems like it's your own product
- Communicate often and informally
- Are proactive, detailed, and persistent
Nice-to-Haves
- Fintech or wealth management experience
- Mobile testing frameworks (Detox, etc.)
- Infrastructure experience (AWS, Fastlane, GitHub Actions)
- Comfort working in regulated industries

- Fully remote, W-2, US-based. Flexible hours with some overlap (roughly 10am-4pm ET).
- Very few meetings. We protect your time so you can actually build things.
- Constant, informal communication. We share what we're working on, flag blockers early, and keep each other in the loop. No formality, high trust.
- Fast releases. Multiple deploys per day through automated pipelines.
- Mature codebase. Strong patterns, linting, types, PR checks, automated deployments, monitoring.
